State govt on Wednesday directed the panchayats to issue bifurcation of house numbers of existing houses without partitioning the plot. This will allow separate families living in the same house to avail themselves of basic amenities like separate water and electricity connections in their names.
The issuance of a house number to an applicant is to give a separate identity to the said portion of the house and is merely fiscal in nature for taxation purposes. It does not confer upon the applicant any title to the property or portion of the house. The application shall be disposed of within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of the application, along with the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) for water and electricity connections in the name of the new assesses, if requested, on payment of fees decided by the panchayat as per the prescribed procedure.
The bifurcation house number shall contain the original house number with a suffix such as ‘A’, ‘B’, etc.Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that in one house, there are two families living, and it became difficult for them to get a partition certificate. “To get them an official partition certificate, we issued a circular today.” Sawant said that once the bifurcation is done, they can avail themselves of the water and electricity connections.
To create ease of living for such nuclear families by obtaining a bifurcation house number for the existing dwelling house, in case the applicant desires so, govt considers it appropriate to issue the following instructions to panchayats,” director of panchayats Siddi Halarnkar said.
